Many people to do not realize how the economy affects our Church and its many ministries. Layoffs and paycuts effect giving. As giving goes down so does the ability to function as effectively as we would like. BUT–Long Heights filled 120 shoeboxes with personal items, small toys, and tracts sharing the love of Christ. Thes boxes will be delivered to chldren all over the world. May each box given be full of God’s grace. Thank you, Long Heights.
Each and every angel was taken from our Angel Tree. Each angel represented a child from our local school system. Gifts were bought, wrapped, and brought to LHBC with joyful smiles. Even a brand new bicycle was given! The Angel Tree and shoeboxes were given from the hearts of our members-many of whom were struggling financially themselves.
Sunday, December 18, was Harvest Day. Our goal that day was $20,000.00. God took our offerings and multiplied them in a tremendous way. We raised enough to give $10,490.12 to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and $12,305.13 to Three Rivers Fellowship Church–our Church plant.
Christmas Day, 2011, Ashton Chesser, was baptized. What a glorious way to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. Sunday, January 1, 2012, we celebrated the beginning of new year with the baptism of Damien Newbill. January 8 we celebrated again with baptism of Samantha Crocker.
If you are not attending Church, please visit us at Long Heights. We would love to have you! God bless each of you in 2012. May it be the best ever.

If you are a member of Long Heights and are not attending small group bible study on Sunday mornings, let us encourage you to do so. Small groups allow you to become a part of a worship process that is awesome! There are few places you can be yourself, ask questions, share difficult situations, pray, and possibly find your “spot” of service. Sunday School begins at 9:30 following our early morning worship service which begins at 8:15. Morning worship begins at 10:45. Plan to start your Sundays with a time in the Lord’s house. We look forward to seeing you at Long Heights.
Long Heights Baptist Church is in the process of planting a Church. In 1978 Eastside Baptist Church in Martin, TN, answered God’s call to plant a Church and Long Heights Baptist Church is the result. At 1000 members strong we are ready to reach out and share the message as we have been called to do. Long Heights voted unamiously to be obedient to this call. We are prayerfully seeking a name as well as a building in Waverly, TN. Bro. Kenny Carr and Bro. Greg Barker have met with the Associational Missions Director of Humphreys County and with families interested in starting a Church in that area. God’s ways are amazing. We are trying to wait patiently to see how this marvelous plan of His unfolds.
“You guys are from Long Heights Baptist Church, aren’t you?” Ann Williams said, “Yes, we are. How did you know?” He replied, “Your Church is always doing something to help people.” This was in a local mobil home park. Helping Hands prepared and delivered over 200 hot meals Sunday afternoon. We had a group of twenty grilling chickens, cooking greenbeans, corn and desserts. What a blessing to be used by God in this way. We welcome anyone who would enjoy reaching out in this way.
Greg Barker, Associate Pastor of Youth and Children, and 75 youth and aduts returned Monday from Laguna Beach in Florida. The group had spent four days in a Christian Center right on the beach. Randy Hemphill went along to lead in praise and worship. Time was spent in bible study, one-on-one time with leaders, time alone with the Lord, and of course the beach. The Lord was evident in each of the lives of those there as four asked Christ in their hearts. They requested to be baptized in the ocean before returning home. It was an awesome experience for Greg as well as those being baptized. Please continue praying for this group. May all they experienced remain fresh in their hearts.
